The Dallas Reign of SuitSupply

On June 18, 2015, SuitSupply opened their Dallas doors to the bustling West Village shopping center. They were one of seven options for men’s suiting, including household names J.Crew and Brooks Brothers to join the area with one of the largest retail spaces on the block. Their United States expansion was only five years in and only existed in massive retail markets (New York and Chicago being two). From the outside, the Dallas store looked like an oasis of color and boldness, with fake trees hovering above mannequins wearing electric blue suits. There were suggestive photos of men and women partying plastered all over the walls, exposed to the street on both sides of the building. It was a bold move for SuitSupply, but their audacity returned in the form of unmatched success.

Quick backstory: SuitSupply began in 2000, founded by current CEO Fokke De Jong when he was 26. He turned a college pipe dream into a mega-reality, as the brand popped up everywhere from Russia to Singapore before heading to the United States six years ago. Now, the US has seventeen of the locations worldwide. All of the suits are made from high-quality fabrics sourced from Italy, and there are so many design details that make every jacket and pant combination incomparable. Every store has a skilled in-house tailor too, if being perfect and inexpensive wasn’t enough already.

The company put an emphasis on the Dallas market during its pre-opening last year. In addition to the storefront, SuitSupply’s headquarters began to plan a slow transition into a more affordable market. Dallas was the new destination, and many employees hired before opening moved to temporary office spaces to work on the customer service team.

What is SuitSupply’s Dallas status one year later? The store established itself as a haven for young professionals to find perfectly tailored suits in various fits and exceptional customer service (you can be on texting terms with your suiting professional for real-time updates). The Customer Service team grew in size and demand, and found their permanent office in the luxurious Crescent Hotel. They even brought the Dallas celebrities from hiding, where an internationally known basketball player can be seen getting pinned with a Heineken in his hand. The events are loud and boisterous, just like the photography on the walls. The theme of brash will never go out of style. SuitSupply suits can also be found at the Crescent’s exclusive department store, Stanley-Korshak.

Dallas is the new home of SuitSupply. If this was all in one year, what will happen in two?

Conor Kearns

The secret to modeling is not being perfect. What one needs is a face that people can identify in a second. You have to be given what’s needed by nature, and what’s needed is to bring something new.

Fashion Houston 2014| Dress & Style

There's a lot to be said about the way in which a man dresses...

“A man should look as if he had bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care, and then forgotten all about them." — Hardy Amies

A special thanks goes out to Justin Jackson, who styled each of the looks that I wore at Fashion Houston.
Not only did he take the time to pick out some incredible outfits, he made sure that I felt comfortable and confident in them.
Thank you!

Thanksgiving Day

It's very fitting that this post be made today, Thanksgiving Day; a day that means more than turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce. The name itself conveys what it is suppose to be all about. However, with our busy schedules we make it so difficult to reflect on the simple pleasures in life. Here's a few things I'm grateful for...

-for family, whether "by blood" or people I've met in life, that always make me feel at home.
-for my dog who gives free and unconditional love.
-for friendships, especially those who have been rekindled into stronger bonds.
-for my business that has seen healthy and successful growth.
-for good times and bad times - that we celebrate them or made it through them.
-for faith, hope and love. because those things are free, irreplaceable, and the only things that last a lifetime.
-for life, because without it none of the above is possible.

I'm especially grateful for those who have played such an impactful role in my business, Allendorf & Company. It's a privilege to be surrounded by that much talent and dedication to producing nothing less than amazing content with a passion that is infectious.

Trent Warrick- Thank you for your sacrifice at times and commitment to being a part of my business. I can't wait to see what future projects we will work on!
Dylan Hall- Thank you for the ability to learn on the fly and deal with ambiguity as we integrate you into my business model.
Jon Newell- Thank you for coming to the rescue and assisting my team this fall. There will definitely be future opportunities for us to collaborate!
Allen Ragasa- Thank you for your help assisting me on projects, it's always exciting to share those moments with a great friend like yourself.

Lastly, a special thanks to the many at Fashion Houston who honored me with the role of Director of Photography. I could not imagine where my company would be today, without the event being present in Houston. It has guided what started as a hobby, into a passion, and transformed it into a business.

Thank you FH5 Team: Jared Lang, Jeanne Ruberti, Angel Woolsey, Emily Arnim, Jentry Kelley, Dennis Clendennen, Ana Lavalle, Todd Parker, Lina Matar and Jammy Kinggundu.

I'm humbled to say that all the things I've been through have made me the individual I am today. So at this time of Thanksgiving celebration my thoughts turn gratefully to you with warm appreciation.

Sincerely,
Michael Allendorf

Eileen Ford

On October 14, 2010 I had the distinguished honor and privilege to meet Eileen Ford of Ford Models. It just so happened to be around the same time that my photography career turned from hobby to business and in attendance of Fashion Houston.

We are deeply saddened to hear of her recent passing. She was a pioneer to the fashion industry and influenced decades through the running one of the most iconic brands of models.

Our deepest condolences go out to her family and closest friends.

Happy New Year's Eve/Day

As the turn of year quickly approaches across the world… we begin to reflect upon the year past. Much like any other, mine has definitely has had it’s ups and downs.

This year I mourned with the loss of family and friends; while at the same time celebrating those moments cherished with those individuals to forever carry along their memory in spirit and soul.

For those who passed on, rest in peace as you “will never be forgotten” in my heart and memory…

This year also reminded me of what makes life so amazing.

I’m so blessed to say that I have my parents still alive with me and that they are able to provide so much for me. As an adopted child, they have provided me with a roof over my head, food on the table, and advice and knowledge for whatever the future might hold. But most importantly they have given me unconditional love.

I’m so blessed to say that I have some really incredible friends such as Marc, Hannah and Cole. Who I can share some life experiences with and turn to for advice during the the times I don’t have all the answers.

I’m so humble to say that my business has seen much change and overhaul. While the chapter has closed for Michael Allendorf Photography & Productions, a new one has begun for Allendorf & Company. The future holds much for us, with new clients, a portfolio update, and fashion coverage through a redesigned iOS App.

With that said, I leave you with this quote from Neil Gaiman…

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly you’re doing something.

That’s the recipe to life, doing what you love with those who you love. Living life to the fullest knowing that each day is never promised or guaranteed. You never know what the future will hold, but you can sure always make the best of it.

I wish you a safe and Happy New Year from my family and friends to yours.

Sincerely,
Michael Allendorf

Lastly as a reminder… Do not drink and drive - nor ride with anybody who does. This is something that I hold dear to my heart as I’ve lost three friends killed by drunk drivers. There are no excuses for doing so.

Tipsy Tow is offered by AAA: You do not have to be a AAA member, from 6:00pm to 6:00am on New Year’s Eve/ New Year’s Day they will take you and your vehicle home for FREE. Save this number… 1-800-222-4357 or call a friend or family member.
