Chloe Dao

Chloe Dao discovered her love for fashion at the age of 10 while watching Style with Elsa Klensch on CNN. This love took her to New York City where she earned a patternmaking degree at F.I.T. After school, she honed her skills in all aspects of the industry such as design, production management and buying before returning home to Houston, Texas to open her boutique, DAO Chloe DAO formerly LOT 8 boutique in 2000. Her Project Runway, Season 2 win catapulted Chloe into international fame as the immigrant designer living out her American dream.

As a designer, Chloe combines sophistication, style and ease into beautiful eveningwear and sportswear. Noted several times on Project Runway, Chloe’s understanding of the woman’s body allows her to hide flaws and flatter women in all her designs. The designs surpass the test of time as they are wearable year after year. Her line DAO Chloe DAO offers many limited edition pieces and a bridal collection of elegant modern gowns. DCD is lovingly made in the USA in her hometown Houston, Texas. Her effortless style and modern sensibility lead her to partner with bag and travel gear maker Nuo Tech to create a line mobile technology and travel accessories. Her NUO bags are the perfect blend of fashion and function. The bags are available in over 1200 Staple stores throughout the US and several online sites such as Zappos.com and Ebags.com. Her Simply Chloe Dao line exclusively for QVC sold for three consecutive years from 2007 to 2010.

Integrated into her design and business philosophy is her commitment to giving back to the community. Chloe serves on the Fashion advisory boards at Houston Community College and The Art Institute. She annually designs a limited edition collectable silk scarf for breast cancer survivors of Zeta Tau Alpha and their Think Pink Foundation. Her scarves have traveled the world with Susan G. Komen’s International Race Ambassador, Dorothy Paterson. Chloe also hosts several benefit shopping events at her boutique for not-for-profit organizations such as Dress for Success, Community Cloth and TUTS. Always ready to inspire, Chloe was the keynote speaker at the 100th Girls Scout Anniversary in 2011 and the Art Institute of Houston commencement ceremony in 2012. In the works are projects with the Houston Grand Opera and the Museum of Fine Arts Film.
